The Monochromes Project is a collaborative art project. Each monochrome has a designated color and is worked on by several artists using only found and second-hand materials. For each piece people are asked to collect pigment, which they bring to a "Coloring Party." When artists work on the piece, they log their hours and get paid a portion of whatever the piece sells for. The idea is to foster a livelihood for artists.
http://monochromesproject.com blogs the story behind the project (from the first post, where I challenge myself to sell a monochrome to a bank for x amount of dollars before the piece is even made).
